This is what I brought home from the junk yard the other day; $5 worth of dirty, rusty objects. I'm current on my tetanus vaccine, and spider webs don't bother me, so I looked past the hazards and saw potential. I decided to start with the wheeled plant stand (or whatever it is).

Lamps seem to be my thing lately. If you're getting tired of seeing them, I pinky swear I won't post another one for a very long time. Its just when I pass a rusty old lamp, it screams at me, "Make me pretty again!" and I feel obligated to do so.
Today, I went to work on this former beauty. I started by sanding off the rust and patina. If it were solid brass, I would have just given it a nice polish, but there wasn't anything worth polishing on this ...

'Tis the season for buying flowers! Choosing and arranging flowers is a simple pleasure I enjoy, almost as much as finding unique containers to use as vases.
Once you start getting creative with containers its difficult to enjoy a standard, off-the-shelf vase again. My favorite places for finding unique containers are salvage yards, garage sales, and second hand stores. The container/vase can be just as much of a statement as the flowers. For instance, ...
