Maintaining control while being creative isn't alway possible. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow, and if things don't turn out the way you thought you wanted, well, maybe it's for the best. My daughters and I had a blast creating this magnet toy for my (older) brother, Chad. He had requested a "repurposely" gift for Christmas, so we knew we were in for something fun. As I searched for inspiration, I had to think like Chad...think humor, art, science, joy, and youthfulness. He's a pretty cool guy.

As a scavenger and picker, I often come across items that give me pause. Yes, castaway and forgotten items sometimes move me. Last month, I pulled 5 garbage bags full of hand-knitted scarves from the dumpster of a sorting facility.
Who knitted all these scarves?! Why?! What motivates someone to knit so much?! Is the person still living?
