Chalk It Up
T
here were a few things about this table that saved it from the scrap woodpile. For one, I couldn’t let go of the unique basket weave inlay, and the cool finial hiding down below. Another saving grace was its big round top and shapely legs. Sadly, its finish was in terrible shape, and was not worth saving (leftover, faux distressed look from the early 80’s). I’m not a huge fan of painted furniture, but I’m learning to love the ease of chalk paint for those pieces beyond refinishing. And, a couple layers of wax give it a nice luster for those not into the chalky look. For questions, products, and workshops check out Artistic Home – Paint and Glass Studio in Alameda
